Shop hands have been a part of me for years. Growing up, I helped my dad fix things around the house and on his boat. My grandfather did woodworking, and some of my earliest days in a shop were spent helping him make Christmas yard signs. So blacksmithing was a natural progression for this shop boy.
I was always fascinated by metalworking and the beautiful creations born from fire. I started
blacksmithing in late 2016. My first forge was a soup can, and I used charcoal made from pallet wood for fuel. Now I have a dedicated shop for my craft, complete with a proper propane forge and a 150lb Brooks anvil. Anyone can start, no matter how modest the first flame and hammer.
I was elected the 2020 vice president and then the 2021president of the Gulf Coast Blacksmith Association (GCBA). I am also a member of Artist Blacksmith Association of North America (ABANA). I have learned much of my craft through these organizations and enjoy passing on my skills to others. My shop door is always open to new smiths, forge veterans, and the curious passer by.
